I have already converted some Quake 1 Wads into a Haf life Textures then used VTFedit to convert them into a bitmap file
but all i want is to convert the textures into something source would use (an actual Hl2 texture)
if anyone could show me how that would be nice.

Open the texture in QuArK, File -> Save As and select ".vtf" as the format. You might want to take a peek at the vtf Configuration section of QuArK too, to make sure it's exporting as the VTF version you need.

i have one question though, i am trying to add some textures to a tf2 map which version do i actually need?
and speaking of tf2 i am trying to compile a map (default map for testing) and i come across this error

Quote
note: this console may not display the program output before it's terminated
C:\Program Files\Steam> "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\glitchhunter97\sources

1. Read http://www.valve-erc.com/srcsdk/faq.html#NoGameDir
2. Run vconfig to specify which game you're working on.
3. Add -game <path> on the command line where <path> is the directory that gamei
nfo.txt is in.

Build failed, because it did not create the (+BSP) file: C:\Program Files\Steam\
.\tf\maps\newmap.BSP

TF2 is very up-to-date, and takes version 7.4 and 7.5 (from the top of my head). But it most likely also still understands the earlier formats.\

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect the path "C:\Program Files\Steam\team fortress 2" is invalid in that command-line... It doesn't exists; it's missing the 'steamapps'-folder, right? What is your current HL2 configuration? Can you post a screenshot?

Hmm, strange... Did you accidentally leave the 'Steam account name' setting under 'Steam' empty? Also, make sure you don't have any conflicting addons loaded.

Edit: Important question: You are using QuArK 6.6.0 Beta 4, right?

*sign* Okay, it seems Valve messed around with their engines again; I'm now seeing a "Source engine MP" that QuArK clearly isn't prepared for... This is gonna take some time, and a new release, sorry. Sad

Okay, I dis-entangled the source2009 and MP (orangebox) engines now, but Valve still hasn't added full mod support to either, so I can't compile QuArKSAS for it. So even though QuArK should now have the paths set-up right, it'll probably still have trouble with it. *sigh* Thanks, Valve...
