Swamps.
They're eerie, different and begging to be explored. It'd be hard to do in Quake II, but the result would be most kickass.

Thats actually pretty cool idea but do you have anything easier to make? i may make the swamps sometime but yea do you have any easier ideas?

(Daikatana has some swamp environments. They look rather outdated (Quake 2 style), but it could give you some inspiration.)
The easiest environment to make is a modern city. It's almost entirely rectangular, but it allows one to learn the basics of making a good map. After learning that, I'd actually suggest taking on a project that's "too hard", because that way, you'll learn the quickest.

I know the basics of a good map. What i want is cool but not boring, i dont like the swamps pretty much and a modern city in an alien planet isnt right... i want something semi-hard and interesting and cool. Ideas?

I mean a singleplayer map :/ Uknow the thing im gonna make is gonna be an (offical?) mission pack in the future so yeah i want something really cool

Yea that'd be great for multiplayer. Fun maps the best.

Ah, okay, sorry.
Well, the Quake 2 single player style is: You're alone, facing an entire Strogg base. If you're going to mimic official Quake 2 single player, that's probably the basis of your single player campaign right there. There's not much story to tell, really. For example: Your ship was flying too close to the Strogg-infested planet, and got shot down. You're the only survivor. Fight your way to a Strogg-facility (oh noes, they're building some super-Strogg there! You must kill it to save the universe from a horrible faith!), and secure a shuttle-ride to safety. A twist you can use is that this shuttle is then intercepted, and then you can do some space-battling too.

I want only ideas for level design. And NO boring maps like the default Quake 2 ones were, i want something awesome and thrilling like..
DA STORY:

...well that may be too hard but yeah i want something awesome lol. And very challenging maps, with multiple key-needing doors and bridges and lasers and puzzles and hard stuff. (Hint hint: i want smth like palace for one of my maps, i just dont have ideas how i design my palace.)
