Not receiving activation emails
«

I just noticed nobody has been able to receive any emails from our forum-software since we moved to SourceForge. Apparently, there is a server-error on SourceForge's side that's eating the emails. I've opened a support request with them. As soon as this is solved, I'll re-send the activation emails to people that didn't get it.

Apparently, SourceForge doesn't allow emails to be send, except through their Hosted Applications, which this forum is not. Oh, and they eat the php-error, so everything *looks* fine ('email send successfully'... sure!). Oh, and their ticket system is horribly broken. Oh, and I can't reopen my ticket to append an additional question.
Just venting...

Just got a reply from SourceForge: it's NOT possible to set-up any outbound connections from this webserver (that includes email). So... I really want email-functionality, but that's out of the question now. Gotta find another good way of doing the forum-activation then.
I'm probably just going to throw in some captcha-things and disable the activation-step alltogether.

Yeah. but you'll have to keep an open eye on spammers.
And, off-topic, when will you have a new QuArK release? How many people are actively working on QuArK? Let's make a poll to see what games are people using QuArK for, so you can remove the unused ones.

Right now there is just Dancing Dan and myself.
Dan takes care of the map editor and I've have been concentrating on the model editor (for two years now)
with a lot of help from Dan there also.
I don't think we would want to remove supported games....you never know
But just a couple of days ago I was saying to Dan I would like to know
if anybody actually uses the model editor and I would like to see some if hey have
and hear from them what it needs for better model making.
We were also talking about making a new release before too long.
I can't remember which import\exporters we gave in the last release,
but we are finishing up on a Python Quake 3 importer now...no exporter for that yet
except for the existing method.
We've touched on the idea of using the Python importer\exporters,
or something like them, for the map editor to allow the display of
various model formats there as well.
I think that idea could also apply to different types of .map exporters.

Well, thanks for the reply, I used the model editor only once, as it helped me to change some paths inside an md3 model. Other than that, I'm not a 3D modeller for Quake, just doing some programming, and importing 3DS Max files into Quake (after conversion, of course).
Keep it up,
Chip
