Remember OpenQuartz?

Remember OpenQuartz? It was a GPL'ed engine effort for based on Quake 1. Its development stopped in early 2004. The idea of OpenQuartz was to provide a free Quake engine for people who did not own a registered Quake version.
I started a new project based on OpenQuartz leftovers, called Quantum Engine, which will provide GPL content for a free Quake version, and lots of engine improvements and enhancements.
There is also a question attached to this post. I would like to bundle my copy of Quantum Engine with a copy of QuArK with only Quake 1 editing capabilities. In other words, strip down every other game. This would make a prefect pack for every Quake modder out there. How does it sound?

Sure, sounds cool! I'm not sure about the "only Quake 1 editing capabilities": it would be a lot of work to rip out all the other stuff, especially because it isn't clearly separated in the source code. You can (in the next release) remove all the other games' addons, and they should then automatically disappear from the menu... But removing the capabilities: you'd need to edit the QuArK source code for that (QuArK is GPL'ed, so I think that's perfectly legal under certain conditions). And why would you want to do that anyway (although the floating-point stuff I can understand)?

Heh, real life issues are preventing me (just like you) to make faster progress on my Quantum Engine. But I'm working on it, and QuArK is my map editor of choice. Thanks for the latest beta 3 version. I'll put it to good use.
Keep up the good work!
